mc·builtnottaught

a Minecraft server running on a server we wrote ourselves

A Minecraft server built from scratch in Rust — no Java, no Forge, no borrowed server code. Running on hardware in a living room, not a datacentre.

test server — read this first

This is an early test server running software that is still being written. The world may be changed, reset, or wiped at any time, without warning. Build things for fun, not to keep. Expect restarts, bugs, and downtime while things are worked on.

how to join

Open Minecraft, go to Multiplayer → Add Server, and enter:

Any version works — the server identifies itself to match whatever client you are running.

what makes it different

written from scratch

The server software is our own Rust implementation of the Minecraft protocol, not a Java server with plugins.

self-hosted

Runs on our own hardware at home, not rented from a hosting company.

open source

The code is MIT licensed. Read it, run it, fork it.

no pay to win

Donations keep the lights on. They do not buy advantages in game.

supporting the server

Donations go toward electricity, hardware, and bandwidth. Following Mojang's rules, they never buy gameplay advantages — no items, no ranks that affect balance, nothing that disadvantages players who do not pay.
